Job summary

Wise, a global technology company building the world’s money, is seeking an experienced Senior Product Engineer to join the Risk & Control Governance team. You’ll help build governance, assurance, and data foundations to ensure every risk decision is consistent, explainable, auditable, and monitored at scale.

You will work at the intersection of the Risk API platform, Product, and FinCrime teams, delivering scalable data trust, continuous assurance, auditability, and integrated governance across

Qualifications

• Strong backend engineering: experience building high-throughput, data-intensive systems in Java with Kafka/SQL/NoSQL.
• Data engineering aptitude: familiarity with data quality frameworks, pipelines, or lineage tracking.
• Systems thinking: ability to reason about distributed systems and failure modes.
• Ownership and autonomy: comfortable operating with ambiguity and delivering end-to-end.
• Collaborative mindset: effective across Risk API, Product, and FinCrime stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Build data trust with data quality monitoring, contracts, and lineage tracking from risk decisions to source data.
• Deliver continuous assurance with automated monitoring to detect drift, false positives/negatives, and coverage gaps.
• Enable auditability with audit trails and explainability tooling for regulatory reporting.
• Integrate governance and assurance into the Risk API platform with shared data contracts.
