Job summary

The Laurels is seeking a part-time senior Speech and Language Therapist to lead the SLT service within a neurorehabilitation setting. You will work two days a week, independently managing a specialist caseload and delivering evidence-based interventions for complex neurological conditions including aphasia, dysphagia and related disorders.

Registration with HCPC and post-qualification experience in neurological rehabilitation are essential.

Qualifications

• HCPC registration is required.
• Post-qualification experience in neurological rehabilitation with complex communication and swallowing needs.
• Ability to work autonomously and develop the service within a specialist setting.
• Experience with aphasia, cognitive communication disorders, dysarthria, apraxia and dysphagia.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage a specialist caseload, including comprehensive assessments and individualised treatment plans
• Deliver evidence-based interventions for complex neurological conditions including aphasia, cognitive communication disorders, dysarthria, apraxia and dysphagia
• Assess and manage eating, drinking and communication needs, and explain recommendations to patients, families, carers and the MDT
• Take responsibility for developing and managing the speech and language therapy service and improving clinical practice and service delivery
• Work within the MDT, giving specialist advice, guidance and training to colleagues
• Contribute to clinical policies, guidelines and service improvements, keeping practice evidence-based and in line with professional standards
• Monitor clinical outcomes, take part in audits and keep accurate, timely clinical records
