Job summary

Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is seeking a Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join our Inpatient Stroke and Rehabilitation Team. The role is full time (37.5 hours) across Monday to Friday with weekend rota, providing therapy to stroke patients in the inpatient setting.

You will work with a multidisciplinary team to deliver evidence-based practice, supervise Band 5 SLTs, students and Therapy Support Workers, and contribute to training within our therapy structure.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with adults with complex communication and swallowing disorders.
• Strong understanding of evidence-based practice in stroke rehabilitation.
• Ability to supervise Band 5 SLT, students and Therapy Support staff; capable of training.

Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose and treat patients with complex conditions with personalised plans.
• Collaborate with doctors, nurses and therapists to support safe discharge.
• Manage a specialist caseload and adapt plans as needs change.
• Provide expert advice and mentor staff and students.
• Participate in audits and service improvement initiatives.
• Contribute to training and professional development within the team.
