Job description

Vacancies Senior Simulation Technician (Internal Only)

Role Summary

The post holder will have a proven track record of working within NHS healthcare simulation as a simulation technician. It will see the successful candidate working with the rest of the simulation team (and wider faculty) to support the development and delivery of high-quality multi-professional simulation and skills-based education programmes. The post holder will be required to exercise curiosity, creativity and technical innovation.

This role will provide expert technical and administrative support and will be responsible for maintaining and operating the high-fidelity human patient simulators (HPS), associated audio-visual & IT equipment, utilised by the simulation service.

About the Role

This opportunity will support the Simulation team with the delivery of Human Factors and Simulation education across the Trust and to external organisations. Simulation is an educational endeavour that provides hospital teams with realistic patient scenarios using computer controlled patient manikins, task trainers or actors. During these scenarios, teams can rehearse / practice challenging situations in a safe manner. It can also be used to identify latent threats in practice.

The post holder will have responsibility for the maintenance, preparation and operation of equipment, and training rooms for simulation education, with support from the wider simulation team. Flexible working is important to the success of this role.

This role would be ideally suited for someone who is interested in technology and innovation in healthcare; Key to the role is the ability to ensure all equipment including computerised high fidelity simulation manikins, AV and IT equipment are maintained in good working and that any technical issues can be managed in a timely manner.
