The Royal Devon is seeking a motivated Occupational Therapist to join the Community Rehabilitation Team in South & West Exeter cluster. The role involves assessment in patients' homes, care homes, outpatient settings and running strength & balance classes to promote independence and rehabilitation.

You will work autonomously within a supportive team, manage a varied caseload including falls prevention and postural assessments, with day-to-day clinical leadership and access to in-service

Job description

Are you passionate and motivated to use your clinical knowledge and assessment skills to support patients rehab journey? In South & West Exeter cluster, we have an opportunity for a motivated individual, with a keen interest in rehabilitation and promoting independence, to join the community rehabilitation team.

The team supports with facilitating hospital discharges alongside supporting longer term rehabilitation goals, working to optimise a patients’ ability and quality of life. This involves assessment in patient homes, care homes, out-patient settings, as well as provision of strength & balance classes in the community.

You will require a wide-range of clinical skills and community experience to be able to work autonomously, as well as part of a team. There is a varied caseload, including falls prevention, orthopaedic conditions, neurological and respiratory conditions, postural assessments and complex manual handling. You will need excellent communication skills, adaptability and resilience to change. Lone working is required at times

The team is well supported with day to day Clinical Leadership as well as highly specialist therapists. There is a structured in-service training programme to help support and guide your development and opportunity to support students and apprentices.

There is close working with the urgent community response team and community nursing teams. This role also supports the cluster 8am – 8pm across 7 days a week on a rota basis, within these hours to support both the intermediate care and UCR national pathways.
