Job description

About the Organisation:
Public Health Scotland is Scotland’s lead national body for improving and protecting the health and wellbeing of all of Scotland’s people. Public Health Scotland wants to see a Scotland where everybody thrives, a Scotland where life expectancy improves and the difference in life expectancy between our poorest and wealthiest areas gets smaller.

The role of the Clinical and Protecting Health Directorate is to protect the people of Scotland from infectious and environmental hazards; enable high-quality clinical and public health knowledge, research and innovation; and change clinical and public health practice by using audits at a national and local level.

The Vaccination and Immunisation Division sits within this Directorate and supports Public Health Scotland’s role in providing leadership for the Scottish Vaccination and Immunisation Programme, working with key stakeholders, including Scottish Government and local NHS boards.

The Post:
We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and dynamic Senior Service Delivery Manager to drive the work of the Vaccination and Immunisation Division. The post-holder will work closely with clinical, scientific, and analytical staff as part of the Vaccination and Immunisation Division to contribute to the safe and effective delivery of Scotland’s vaccination programmes. You will also work with a range of policy makers, public health/health protection service providers and other stakeholders across Scotland and beyond.

The Candidate:
You will have strong communications and presentation skills, with the ability to use these to lead, influence, negotiate and mediate in an often challenging and politicised environment. You should be educated to degree level or equivalent, with significant levels of work experience in a related, and preferable service delivery, environment. Service and/or direct project management experience and experience of working within health services would be an advantage. An ability to take the initiative, deal with conflicting demands and work under pressure are pre-requisites for this role, as is an ability to demonstrate PHS values.

Location and Working Pattern:
Gyle Square, Edinburgh or Central Quay, Glasgow. Please note that PHS is currently in the process of relocating from Central Quay, Glasgow to Bothwell Street, Glasgow in 2025. PHS operate a hybrid working model with a mixture of working at home and days in the office each week. There will be an expectation to travel to local areas for some meetings and events. The post is a full time permanent post at 37 hours per week. During times of public health emergency, or other urgent business need, you may be required on a temporary basis to work your normal contracted working hours over 7 days including weekends, to meet the needs of the service. It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with PHS.

Benefits:
Our benefits package includes pension scheme, comprehensive range of work life balance policies, occupational health services, learning resource centres and discounted leisure, financial and shopping benefits. Click here to view the full range of the PHS Employee Benefits.

Closing date for completed applications is 20th March 2025. Interviews are anticipated to take place week commencing 31 March 2025.
