Job summary

Polaris Education - Lyttelton House School in Andover, Hampshire, invites applications for a SENCO to lead SEN policy, design interventions, and oversee EHCPs within a nurturing environment.

The role requires QTS, SENCO qualification, and experience with autism/SEMH. You will work with staff, parents, and external agencies to improve pupil outcomes and ensure safeguarding and inclusion.

Qualifications

• Qualified teacher with QTS and SENCO training.
• Experience with autism/SEMH in schools.
• Knowledge of SEND Code of Practice.
• Ability to lead INSET and staff training.
• Experience with EHCPs and reviews.

Responsibilities

• Lead SEN policy development and provision in the school.
• Design and deliver targeted interventions to reduce attainment gaps.
• Assess and monitor pupil progress against EHCPs.
• Hold EHCP annual reviews and act as DDSL.
• Lead multi-agency meetings and Early Help initiatives.
• Coordinate SEN provision and maintain accurate records.
• Support learning plans with teachers and parents.
• Oversee annual reviews and transitions.
• Cover teaching as needed.
• Teaching commitment.

Education

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

National Award for SEN Co-ordination

Willingness to complete NPQ for SENCOs

Experience in school self-evaluation and development planning

Experience teaching pupils with autism and/or SEMH

Training and leading INSET

Knowledge of SEND Code of Practice

Commitment to professional development
