Job summary

Polaris Education - Lyttelton House School in Andover, Hampshire, seeks a dedicated SENCO to join its growing team. The role leads SEN policy and ensures high-quality provision for pupils with complex needs, coordinating EHCPs, safeguarding duties, and cross-agency collaboration.

The successful candidate will contribute to early intervention, staff development and inclusive practice, supporting pupils aged 5–18 in a nurturing environment.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is required.
• National Award for SEN Co-ordination or willingness to complete NPQ for SENCOs.
• Experience in school self-evaluation and development planning.
• Experience teaching pupils with autism and/or SEMH needs.
• Experience in conducting training and leading INSET.
• Solid knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development.

Responsibilities

• Lead SEN policy development and school provision strategy.
• Design and deliver extra interventions to reduce attainment gaps.
• Assess and monitor pupil progress per EHCPs.
• Hold EHCP annual reviews and Deputy DDSL duties.
• Attend multi-agency meetings and lead Early Help.
• Designated Teacher for looked-after children and liaise with stakeholders.
• Coordinate SEN provision and maintain accurate records.
• Support teaching staff with effective programmes and behaviour management.
• Oversee annual reviews and transitions with partners.
• Ensure safeguarding and Local Offer awareness across the school.
