Job summary

Salford City Council's SEN team seeks a senior SEN caseworker to support a small team of caseworkers. You will oversee the administration of assessment procedures, drafting and amending EHCPs for children and young people (0–25) with SEND, and ensure plans meet statutory duties.

You will coordinate year groups, annual reviews and transitions, contribute to day-to-day SEN operations, and support induction and training for staff while managing a complex caseload and attending meetings as required.

Qualifications

• Proven experience working with children/youth with SEND and their families in similar roles or educational settings.
• Strong knowledge of SEND Code of Practice and related legislation (Children and Families Act 2014, SEND Code 2015, Equality Act 2010).

Responsibilities

• Oversee administration of assessment procedures and EHCP drafting/amendments.
• Coordinate placement, annual reviews and transitions for 0–25 with SEND.
• Ensure EHCPs meet statutory duties and high-quality standards.
• Support day-to-day SEN team operations through meetings and one-to-ones.
• Support induction and training for staff and manage a small, complex caseload.
• Attend meetings and reviews as required and assist managers and Head of Service.
