Job summary

St George's School is seeking an experienced Head Chef to lead the catering team and oversee meals for around 1,500 pupils and staff plus 120 boarders. The role is permanent, full-time, 37 hours per week across 42 weeks (term time plus four weeks) with a rotating early/late pattern and weekend work.

You will manage a team of 10, ensure high-volume, high-quality home-cooked meals, and maintain standards of safety and service while supporting boarding facilities and school operations.

Qualifications

• Relevant training and certificates in catering.
• Experience of high volume catering to a high standard.
• Line management experience of at least a team of 10 staff.
• Demonstrate good communication skills with a wide range of stakeholders.
• Be proactive with strong problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the preparation and delivery of fresh, home-cooked meals for pupils and staff and boarders.
• Lead catering team of at least 10 staff and manage day-to-day operations.
• Ensure high standards of hygiene, safety and service across all shifts.
