Job summary

Vetro Recruitment in Pontprennau, Cardiff is seeking a Senior Residential Children's Residential Support Worker to provide child-centred, therapeutic care for young people with EBD. You will work within a supportive team, following care plans and safeguarding standards to ensure high-quality outcomes.

You will lead by example, mentor colleagues, manage shift leadership, complete accurate documentation, and help maintain a safe, nurturing environment with sleep-ins included in the rota.

Qualifications

• Level 3 qualification in Residential Childcare / Children and Young People (QCF/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
• Proven experience in a Senior Residential Children's Residential Support Worker or similar setting.
• Enhanced DBS clearance and a Full UK Driving Licence; strong safeguarding and risk-management knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Providing high-quality, child-centred care in line with care plans, risk assessments, safeguarding procedures, and CIW expectations.
• Supporting young people with routines, daily living skills, emotional regulation, and positive boundaries using trauma-informed, therapeutic approaches.
• Supporting day-to-day operations in your role as a Senior Residential Children's Residential Support Worker to ensure high standards of care, safeguarding, and compliance.
• Completing accurate documentation including daily logs, incident reports, handovers, progress notes, and recording outcomes against care plans.
• Supporting senior staff with shift leadership, mentoring colleagues, contributing to reflective practice, and helping maintain a stable, nurturing environment.

Requirements & Qualifications

To be successful as a Senior Residential Children's Residential Support Worker, you will need:

• Level 3 qualification in Residential Childcare / Children and Young People (QCF/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent recognised qualification)
• Proven experience working as a Senior Residential Children's Residential Support Worker or in a similar children’s residential care setting
• Strong practical knowledge of safeguarding, risk management, behaviour support, and regulatory expectations (including CIW standards)
• Enhanced DBS Check (or willingness to complete one) and a Full UK Driving Licence
