Job summary

Job Role

A fantastic opportunity for an experienced residential childcare professional looking to take the next step in their career.

A children's residential home in Stalybridge is looking to recruit a Senior Residential Childcare Worker to help establish and develop a supportive, positive and consistent team environment.

This is an opportunity for someone with experience in residential childcare who is confident leading by example, overseeing shifts and supporting colleagues to deliver high-quality care.

Responsibilities

You’ll play an important role in helping children feel safe, supported and positive about their future. Alongside providing direct care, you’ll take on additional leadership responsibilities, including:

• Building positive relationships with children based on trust, consistency and respect.
• Supporting daily routines, including school runs, meals, activities and emotional support.
• Providing a calm and reliable presence during challenging situations.
• Leading shifts, delegating responsibilities and supporting colleagues throughout the day.
• Acting as a positive role model and promoting good practice across the team.
• Overseeing medication administration, risk assessments and key records.
• Promoting education, wellbeing, independence, life skills and positive experiences.
• Helping to maintain a warm, safe and welcoming home environment.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will:

• Have previous experience working within children's residential care or a similar setting.
• Hold a Level 3 qualification in Children and Young People or Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
• Be confident leading shifts and providing guidance and support to other members of staff.
• Demonstrate strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
• Be emotionally resilient, able to remain calm during challenging situations and committed to achieving positive outcomes for children.
• Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a car

Salary, Benefits & Development

• £15.50 per hour.
• £1,000 welcome bonus (£500 upon successful completion of induction and £500 upon successful completion of probation).
• 2 days on, 4 days off rota, averaging approximately 10 working days per month.
• Sleep-ins available as required, paid at £75 per night.
• Fully funded Level 4 or Level 5 qualification pathways.
• 35 Hour Contract with overtime pay available.

Additional Information

The £1,000 welcome bonus is subject to repayment on a pro-rata basis if an employee voluntarily leaves or is dismissed for misconduct within their first 12 months.
