Job summary

Stockport Council is recruiting a Senior Residential Support Worker for Bredbury Green Children’s Home in Romiley. The role leads shifts, supports colleagues and delivers trauma‑informed care to children aged 8–18, while safeguarding and maintaining high-quality records.

The position is full-time, permanent, 37 hours per week, with progression through Scale 6 +2 increments. The successful candidate will have a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent, strong relationship-building

Qualifications

• Experience building safe, trusting relationships with children in residential care.
• Ability to lead a shift, coach colleagues and provide constructive feedback.
• Understanding of safeguarding, care planning and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead shifts, supervise staff and ensure safeguarding and recording standards.
• Work directly with children aged 8–18 and implement trauma-informed approaches.
• Ensure children's plans shape daily activities and responses.
• Maintain accurate, timely records and support colleagues to do the same.
