Job summary

Vertex Pharmaceuticals is seeking a Senior Research Scientist for the Molecular & Cell Biology group at the Oxford site. The role focuses on stem cell-based disease models using hiPSCs to test hypotheses, discover target biology, and develop translational biomarkers.

Qualifications

• PhD in a relevant Biological Science (e.g. Molecular or Cellular Biology).
• Strong cell biology background with hiPSCs culture and related models.
• Experience with meso-scale detection assays and cellular characterization.
• Molecular biology techniques: qPCR, cloning, WB, ELISA, IHC/IF.
• Proven publication track record and demonstrated independent contributions.
• Excellent communication and collaborative skills.

Responsibilities

• Independently design and execute technically challenging experiments with disease-relevant cell models.
• Leverage cutting-edge molecular biology techniques for in vitro disease modelling.
• Distill complex data into concise concepts and actionable plans.
• Communicate effectively within and between teams.
• Collaborate across teams and with the Biology Dept and beyond on shared projects.
