Job summary

5 Star Recruitment is seeking a Building Surveyor to help deliver revenue repairs services for a substantial Council estate, including ~10,500 homes, 3,000 garages and 700 corporate properties. You will assist with day-to-day repairs, safety inspections, and surveys to diagnose faults, while supporting officers in complex technical matters and managing evidence for court actions.

You will also raise work orders, monitor contractor health and safety, and help maintain compliance with CDM,

Qualifications

• 2-years experience of building surveying and inspection.
• Knowledge of construction methods.
• Understanding of the legal framework relating to disrepair.
• Experience with health and safety regulations and contractor supervision.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Current driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing day to day repairs in domestic and commercial properties to high quality and value.
• Assist in safety inspections for domestic and commercial properties to regulations and standards.
• Undertake surveys to diagnose gas service faults and determine effective solutions.
• Support officers in diagnosing complex technical matters.
• Raise and manage work orders and variations with accuracy and timeliness.
• Ensure access issues are documented and evidence provided for court actions as needed.
• Support building services contracts and liaise with contractors on safety information.
• Provide risk assessments for health and safety before work commences.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations including CDM and Asbestos at Work.
• Monitor gas service works and contractor precautions, raising issues as appropriate.
• Maintain policies on regulations, contracts and safety certifications.
• Assist in budget management, prepare estimates and negotiate variations.
• Respond to queries and provide evidence for health and safety investigations and court cases.
• Keep computer records updated for business planning and service improvement.
• Provide cover for inspectors or surveyors as required.
