Slough Borough Council seeks a Rent Accounts Officer to join the Corporate Resources directorate. You will manage rent accounts for council homes and related housing services, using the NEC Housing Management system to process changes, payments, reconciliations and refunds.
This permanent, hybrid role requires strong attention to detail, independence and collaboration with Housing, Allocations, IT and Finance teams.
You will play a key role in keeping the Council's rent accounts accurate, reliable and well managed, supporting the smooth running of housing services across Slough. This is a varied role where you will work with rent account information, tenancy changes, payments, reconciliations, refunds and system updates, using the NEC Housing Management system to manage accounts for council homes, garages, temporary accommodation and related housing services.
You will be someone colleagues can rely on for technical knowledge, strong systems knowledge and confidence, analytical skills and experience, and the capability to work independently while managing complex technical issues. Excellent attention to detail will be a key quality. You will check information, identify where systems or figures do not align, produce reconciliation reports and help resolve issues before they become bigger problems. You will work closely with teams across Housing, Allocations, IT, Finance and other service areas, supporting system testing, upgrades, audit requirements and accurate day-to-day rent accounting processes.
Alongside the technical work, you will support residents, customers, partners and internal stakeholders with clear, timely and accurate responses. You will help manage correspondence, statements, Direct Debit matters, refunds, Former Tenant Credits and requests for information, while maintaining strong standards around customer service, confidentiality and data protection. You will also contribute to service improvements, support digital ways of working, share knowledge with colleagues and help maintain a positive team culture built on openness, fairness and mutual respect.
Our vision is to make a difference to our communities and environment. Every employee contributes to services for local people, directly or by supporting colleagues. We celebrate diversity and want residents to enjoy fulfilling, prosperous and healthy lives.
We offer a supportive place to grow your career, where your input is valued and heard. You will join a friendly, collaborative environment where ambition and innovation are encouraged.
We support flexible and hybrid working to help colleagues achieve a positive work-life balance. We welcome applications from all backgrounds, recruit on merit and value a workforce that reflects the communities we serve.
Annual increments, where applicable, are usually payable on 1 April, subject to six months' service and satisfactory performance, until the maximum spinal column point is reached.
