Job summary

Markel International is seeking a Senior Financial Reporting Accountant to lead Lloyd’s regulatory returns and UK GAAP reporting for Syndicate 3000. You will partner with Finance, Actuarial, Underwriting, Compliance and Audit to enhance reporting quality and provide insightful business analysis.

The role sits in the Lloyd’s and Solvency UK Reporting team within Markel International’s Global Finance function.

Qualifications

• Qualified Accountant with ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent.
• Exceptional analytical and data interrogation skills.
• Advanced Excel skills with large financial/regulatory datasets.
• Data-driven mindset with ability to interpret numbers and tell the story.
• Experience using reporting tools and technology to automate processes.
• Excellent attention to detail and high-quality output.
• Ability to translate complex financial/regulatory information into concise commentary.
• Proactive attitude and a drive to improve reporting processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead preparation and evaluation of Lloyd’s regulatory returns.
• Produce quarterly and annual UK GAAP financial reporting and statutory statements for Syndicate 3000.
• Assist in Lloyd’s returns (QMA Delta, QMB, RRQ, Flash Reports, TRIA, etc.).
• Perform analytical reviews of underwriting results, broker balances, and capital movements.
• Maintain relationships with Finance, Actuarial, Underwriting, Compliance and Auditors.
• Review and enhance reporting processes, controls, and documentation.
• Provide guidance to junior team members and develop reporting capability.
• Monitor Lloyd’s, PRA and regulatory reporting changes and assess impact.
