Job summary

Environment Agency is seeking a Senior Regulatory Officer (SRO) to lead regulation of complex oil refineries and high hazard industries in England. You will guide site inspections, investigations, and enforcement actions while engaging with operators, partners, and communities to uphold regulatory standards.

The role requires significant high hazard experience and a relevant degree or equivalent expertise, with travel to sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Significant oil refinery or high hazard industry experience.
• Relevant degree or equivalent technical expertise.
• Willingness to travel for site visits and fieldwork.

Responsibilities

• Lead regulation of complex and nationally significant oil refineries and high hazard industries.
• Plan and deliver site inspections, investigations and enforcement actions for significant incidents.
• Engage with operators, stakeholders and senior industry leaders to ensure a consistent regulatory approach.
• Provide input into investigations and regulatory strategy; oversee performance and workload within the team.
