Job summary

Fundamental XR in London is seeking a Lead Simulation Engineer to own the architecture and delivery of real-time XR simulations. You will lead a 4+ engineering team, setting standards and guiding technical decisions across the simulation stack for training solutions in med-tech and life sciences.

The role requires strong Unity experience, familiarity with other engines, and a track record in technical leadership with a focus on performance and scalable architecture.

Qualifications

• Proven experience building real-time simulation or XR systems in Unity.
• Strong hands-on Unity experience essential; Unreal is a plus.
• Track record of technical leadership and mentoring in engineering teams.
• Knowledge of agentic coding tools (Codex, Claude Code) for software engineering.
• Experience with XR platforms such as Meta Quest (Horizon OS), VR/MR/Web.

Responsibilities

• Owns technical direction for Simulation and leads the team of 4+ engineers.
• Architectures scalable, real-time simulation systems and reusable components.
• Leads estimation and delivery of client work; advises on feasibility and strategy.
• Sets engineering standards for simulation code, focusing on performance and maintainability.
• Mentors the team and manages performance and outsourcing relationships.
• Drives developer productivity and codifies shared ways of working.
