Job summary

EKFB is seeking a Rail Systems Discipline Lead to join the Routewide team in Milton Keynes. The role covers the technical rail systems interface across track, OCS, traction power, signalling and telecoms, and requires owning management plans and coordinating design changes with other disciplines.

You will chair client meetings, oversee interfaces, and drive construction-phase O&M strategy while ensuring schedule adherence. A Chartered engineer with HS2 experience and strong leadership is desired.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in technical rail systems roles (design/engineering) including major projects or significant rail upgrade schemes.
• Chartered (CEng MPWI or equivalent) professional qualification and HS2 experience desirable
• Ability to lead and manage a team with competing priorities for the project
• Management of commercial/contractual aspects of projects with suppliers and client
• Strong communication skills at multiple organisational levels, internally and externally; driving licence required

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical rail systems interface with the client across Track, OCS, traction power, signalling and telecoms.
• Chair client interface meetings and maintain/update relevant management plans.
• Manage agreements for interfacing rail systems and design changes with other disciplines.
• Lead assessment of technical changes, maintain key client relationships, and facilitate issue resolution.
• Liaise with handover/completions teams to finalise rail systems aspects for handover to contractors on schedule.
• Oversee strategy for construction-phase O&M manual production and ensure interoperability compliance progress.
