Job summary

Arup is seeking an experienced Senior Rail Design Manager to lead multidisciplinary design delivery across feasibility, scheme and detailed design stages in the UK. You will govern design assurance, interface management and institutional processes while driving programme, quality and commercial outcomes.

You will mentor teams, engage with clients and partners, and contribute to bid leadership and growth of Arup's rail capability, delivering some of the industry's most challenging projects.

Qualifications

• Chartered status and full corporate membership of a relevant engineering institution (e.g. ICE, IET, or CIHT).
• Proven experience operating as a CEM-D (Contractor's Engineering Manager - Design), CEM, or equivalent on rail infrastructure projects.
• Understanding of Network Rail and major infrastructure design assurance processes and design reviews.
• Strong leadership, stakeholder management and communication skills with client relationship experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead coordination, integration and assurance of multidisciplinary design services across complex rail projects.
• Manage design delivery from feasibility through to detailed design and construction support, including interfaces, risk, change and assurance.
• Establish and implement engineering management approaches as a CEM or equivalent, ensuring technical excellence and compliance.
• Mentor and develop junior staff and contribute to bid leadership and work winning activities.
