Job summary

The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Principal Clinical Scientist (Band 8a) to provide physics support to the Radiotherapy department. The post involves collaboration with a large physics team and with the University of Liverpool on MSc Clinical Science programs.

Qualifications

• HCPC registered Clinical Scientist is required.
• BSc (Hons) Physics or equivalent.
• MSc in Medical Physics or equivalent.
• Desirable: PhD or equivalent R&D experience.
• Desirable: Registered on the RPA2000 list of Medical Physics Experts.
• Specialist knowledge of radiation physics applied to medicine.
• Experience in radiotherapy equipment QC and dosimetry.
• CPD and adherence to national guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Provide physics support to Radiotherapy and Specialised Services as directed.
• Assist Higher Principal and Consultant Clinical Scientists in radiotherapy support.
• Ensure State Registered status and Medical Physics Expert accreditation where required.
• Support radiotherapy equipment QC, dosimetry and treatment planning as part of Clinical Services.
