Job summary

Kier Group is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the Thames Water – Maple Lodge STW team based in Rickmansworth. You will manage commercial aspects, lead cost control, and support the Commercial Manager from construction through to final account.

In this role you will mentor junior commercial staff, handle CVRs, forecasts, and reporting, and oversee subcontract packages to ensure successful project delivery.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or strong Quantity Surveyor on major civil engineering, process or water infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of contract management and change control.
• Experience managing subcontract packages through the full commercial lifecycle.
• Competence in CVRs, cost forecasting, financial reporting and commercial governance.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation and communication skills with the ability to mentor junior commercial staff.

Responsibilities

• Managing the commercial and financial aspects of allocated works packages, ensuring adherence to contract terms and internal governance.
• Preparing and maintaining detailed cost forecasts, cashflow projections, and variance analyses with accurate and timely reporting.
• Leading change management processes including valuation, justification, and agreement of variations.
• Managing procurement and administration of subcontract packages from tender enquiry through to final account settlement.
• Providing guidance and technical support to Quantity Surveyors and Assistant QSs, reviewing their outputs and supporting their development.
