Job summary

SP Electricity North West, part of the Iberdrola and ScottishPower group, is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to deliver commercial expertise across projects, ensuring contractual obligations and strong cost controls are consistently met.

You will lead post-contract delivery, forecast expenditures, manage variations and procurement, and mentor a small team while upholding governance and efficiency across the portfolio.

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying is essential.
• Experience in the construction or utilities industry.
• Proficient in CVR reporting, cost control and forecasting.
• Proficient in contract management and administration with NEC/JCT.
• Proficient in negotiating variations and interpreting contract terms.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead the post-contract delivery of multiple projects with commercial assurance across NEC, JCT and bespoke frameworks.
• Identify and implement improvements in commercial contract management, managing variations and changes.
• Forecast and control project expenditure with project managers using cost data and rates.
• Develop and maintain relationships with project delivery teams, providing forecasts and budgets for approvals.
• Coordinate teams to manage costs, risks and mitigation aligned with risk management processes.
• Visit project sites to monitor progress, review costs, and identify early warnings and risk mitigations.
• Lead procurement for non-framework projects and advise on tender approaches and evaluations.
• Promote continuous improvement and compliance with internal controls while delivering value.
• Coach and develop a small team (1–3 colleagues) from apprentice to QS.
