Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within the Energy, Utilities, Power, or Infrastructure sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial management and contract administration.
  • Experience with NEC, JCT, ICE, and bespoke contract forms.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects or framework contracts simultaneously.
  • Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent financial analysis, stakeholder management, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the commercial performance of energy infrastructure projects and framework agreements.
  • Prepare pricing schedules and tender submissions.
  • Produce accurate cost forecasts, valuations, and financial reports.
  • Monitor project performance against budgets and commercial targets.
  • Administer contracts, variations, compensation events, and change control procedures.
  • Prepare and negotiate applications for payment, claims, and final accounts.
  • Manage subcontract procurement, payments, and commercial performance.
  • Lead commercial discussions with clients, suppliers, and project stakeholders.
  • Identify and mitigate commercial risks across multiple projects.
  • Support delivery teams with commercial guidance and expertise.
  • Develop robust cost control, forecasting, and reporting processes.
  • Ensure contractual compliance and governance requirements are met.
  • Mentor and support the development of junior commercial team members.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and business growth initiatives.

Senior Quantity Surveyor

A leading infrastructure and energy services organisation is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to support the successful delivery of major projects across the UK's expanding energy sector.

This opportunity offers involvement in critical infrastructure programmes including electricity transmission and distribution networks, renewable energy developments, EV charging infrastructure, battery energy storage systems, solar projects, and wider energy transition initiatives.

The Role Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the successful candidate will take responsibility for the commercial management of major energy infrastructure projects from inception through to completion. The position focuses on maximising project performance through effective cost management, contract administration, procurement, commercial reporting, risk management, and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Experience Required
Essential
  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within the Energy, Utilities, Power, or Infrastructure sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial management and contract administration.

Desirable
  • Experience working on electricity Transmission & Distribution projects.
  • Renewable energy, solar, battery storage, or EV charging project experience.
  • Knowledge of utility frameworks and regulated environments.
  • RICS membership or progress towards chartership.
