Job summary

Laing O'Rourke is recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead commercial delivery on a major infrastructure programme. The role starts in the East Midlands (Chesterfield) before moving with the team to the North East portfolio.

You will manage all commercial activities, value on-site works, handle interim payments, subcontracts, and cost reporting while supporting the Great Grid Partnership framework beyond 2030.

Qualifications

• NEC-based experience required for live subcontract packages.
• Degree in Quantity Surveying or related commercial discipline.
• Experience in power, energy or major infra sectors.
• Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder skills.
• Ability to manage commercial risk and drive project performance.

Responsibilities

• Manage all commercial and quantity surveying duties across work packages.
• Measure, value, and agree on-site works and interim payments.
• Draft and manage subcontracts, close-out complex contracts.
• Monitor subcontract packages: commercial performance, changes, payments.
• Deliver monthly cost reporting and commercial forecasting.
• Prepare and negotiate commercial claims and final accounts.
• Identify and mitigate commercial risks while maximizing opportunities.
• Produce contract reviews and management reports.
• Support budgets from award through delivery.
• Build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and stakeholders.
• Mentor junior commercial team members.
