Job summary

Laing O\'Rourke in Chelmsford is recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead commercial decisions on National Grid's Great Grid Partnership programme. You will oversee cost, cash flow and margin for allocated areas, and negotiate subcontracts and commercial agreements.

The role requires a quantity surveying degree and NEC subcontract experience, with strong communication and stakeholder management. You will prepare budgets, monitor progress, report costs monthly, and mentor junior surveyors

Qualifications

• Quantity surveying degree required.
• Experience administering live subcontract packages under NEC contracts.
• Experience on power, energy or infrastructure projects.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate subcontracts and commercial agreements.
• Handle claims and administer packages during delivery.
• Price changes, manage valuations and payments.
• Advise project team on contractual obligations.
• Produce monthly cost forecasts and contract reviews.
• Establish and maintain budgets at contract award.
• Identify commercial risks and discuss with the wider team.
• Mentor Quantity Surveyors in the commercial team.
