Job summary

J. Murphy & Sons Ltd. seeks a Senior Quantity Surveyor for our London office (Kentish Town) in the Applied Engineering division.

You will manage commercial performance across projects, lead NEC4-based compensation events, and collaborate with discipline leads and finance to ensure accurate cost forecasting. Demonstrated experience in design-led or multidisciplinary engineering environments with NEC4 PSC/ECS familiarity is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Quantity Surveyor with NEC3/4 contracts.
• Strong cost control and forecasting abilities.
• Experience with internal cost recharge models and consultancy frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Prepare Compensation Event (CE) preparation, valuation and submission under NEC4 contracts.
• Support pre-contract commercial engagement and pricing of design packages.
• Monitor cost, value, and change across a portfolio of multi-disciplinary design packages.
• Collaborate with discipline leads, planners, and finance teams to maintain cost forecast accuracy.
• Contribute to internal recharge processes and cost-to-complete tracking for MAE resource deployment.
• Ensure contract compliance with NEC4 and client requirements.
• Assist in developing commercial procedures and governance for the growing business unit.
