Job summary

Paxton Personnel Ltd is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established engineering and construction contractor on a major energy infrastructure project in the Highlands of Scotland. You will lead commercial management, cost control and NEC contract administration to deliver within budget.

The role requires strong procurement, valuations, final accounts and forecasting skills, and the ability to work closely with project managers and site teams to manage financial

Qualifications

• HND or degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or related discipline.
• Experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or ready to take the next step.
• Strong knowledge of NEC contracts and commercial procedures.
• Experience managing subcontractor accounts, procurement, valuations and final accounts.
• An understanding of cost reporting, forecasting and commercial risk management.
• Experience in civil engineering, energy, utilities or major infrastructure projects would be advantageous.
• Membership of RICS or ICES, or working towards chartership.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and organisational skills.
• The ability to work independently while supporting wider project teams.

Responsibilities

• Managing the commercial and contractual aspects of major civil engineering and energy infrastructure projects.
• Preparing and submitting valuations and applications for payment, ensuring all supporting documentation is accurate and contractually compliant.
• Managing subcontractor procurement, negotiations, appointments and commercial performance.
• Overseeing subcontractor accounts, including payment assessments, variations and final accounts.
• Preparing and reviewing project cost reports, forecasts and financial performance.
• Managing NEC contracts, including contract administration, compensation events and change management.
• Identifying commercial risks, opportunities and potential cost savings.
• Working closely with project managers and site teams to monitor project progress and expenditure.
• Ensuring compliance with company procedures, commercial governance and contractual requirements.
• Managing procurement schedules for subcontractors, suppliers and materials.
• Undertaking measurement and valuation of works in accordance with relevant methods of measurement.
• Maintaining accurate commercial records and reporting to senior management.
