Job summary

CSC Recruitment Ltd has partnered with a leading Tier 1 main contractor to appoint a Senior Quantity Surveyor for a major £76m new-build DfE school project in Thurston, Suffolk. The role offers commercial ownership, procurement leadership and a clear path to final account.

You will own the commercial delivery, manage subcontracts, cost reporting and variations, while collaborating with project teams to ensure successful delivery across education and public sector schemes.

Qualifications

• Experience working for a recognised main contractor.
• Experience at Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor level.
• Strong understanding of commercial and contractual management.
• Experience working on sizeable new-build construction projects.
• Strong procurement and subcontract management experience.
• Experience with cost reporting, forecasting, variations and final accounts.
• Ability to work closely with both operational and commercial teams.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• A relevant construction or Quantity Surveying qualification would be advantageous.
• Education or DfE project experience would be beneficial but is not essential.

Responsibilities

• Take a leading commercial role on a £76m education project.
• Manage commercial performance and maintain strong financial control throughout the project.
• Procurement and management of subcontractor packages.
• Prepare and review subcontract documentation.
• Manage subcontractor applications, payments, variations and final accounts.
• Cost reporting, forecasting and cash-flow management; identify commercial risks and opportunities.
• Manage variations and ensure changes are captured and recovered.
• Collaborate with operational and design teams throughout delivery.
• Maintain accurate project financial information; report to senior commercial management.
• Support contractual administration and ensure commercial procedures are followed.
• Develop strong relationships with client, consultants and supply chain.
• Drive packages through to final account and project completion.
• Mentor junior members of the commercial team.
