Job summary

Join Balfour Beatty plc as a Senior Quantity Surveyor in Birmingham, delivering a major healthcare project within a live environment. You will lead commercial management, manage subcontractor relations and oversee cost control, forecasting and final accounts to ensure project success.

This role requires experience in major construction and preferably healthcare settings, with strong communication, negotiation, and change-management skills to drive value and governance across the project

Qualifications

• Experience working as a Senior Quantity Surveyor on major construction projects.
• Healthcare/hospital or complex building experience desirable.
• Strong experience in subcontract procurement, cost control, forecasting and final accounts.
• Good knowledge of construction contracts and commercial processes.
• Experience managing change, variations, risk and opportunity.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to build effective relationships with clients, consultants and supply chain partners.

Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for the commercial management of designated packages and elements of the project.
• Manage costs from pre-construction through to final account.
• Prepare and manage forecasts, budgets and cost reports.
• Monitor and manage project expenditure, identifying risks and opportunities.
• Lead the procurement and commercial management of subcontractors and suppliers.
• Prepare, negotiate and agree subcontract accounts, variations and final accounts.
• Manage change effectively, ensuring that commercial impacts are identified and communicated.
• Work closely with the Project Manager, Design Manager, Planning and wider delivery team.
• Build strong working relationships with the client, consultants and supply chain.
• Provide commercial advice and support to the project team.
• Ensure contractual and commercial processes are followed and appropriately documented.
