Job summary

Balfour Beatty plc is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead commercial management on major infrastructure projects. You will oversee budgets, schedules and commercial performance while managing contracts with clients and subcontractors.

The role requires experience in construction/infrastructure sectors, NEC contracts knowledge, and strong leadership abilities to mentor junior team members. Hybrid working and development opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

• Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying or equivalent experience.
• Membership of, or progress towards, RICS, ICES or CIOB accreditation.
• Experience working within construction, infrastructure, utilities, power or civil engineering sectors.
• Strong knowledge and practical experience of NEC contracts (NEC3 and NEC4).
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• A proactive and solutions-focused approach to commercial management.
• Strong leadership capabilities and the ability to mentor others.
• Commercial awareness combined with a customer-focused mindset.
• Experience managing multiple stakeholders and project priorities.

Responsibilities

• Managing project costs and identifying commercial risks and opportunities.
• Procuring and managing subcontractors and supply chain partners.
• Driving cost control, value engineering and commercial efficiencies.
• Administering contracts with both clients and subcontractors.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Supporting and ensuring compliance with the Gated Business Lifecycle process.
• Preparing, managing and reporting project budgets, forecasts and final accounts.
• Providing commercial leadership across project teams.
• Mentoring and developing junior commercial team members.
• Supporting continuous improvement and best practice within the commercial function.
• Taking ownership of your professional development and working towards or maintaining professional accreditation.
