Job summary

Energy Jobline ZR in Manchester is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead commercial management on projects within the water sector. You will report to the Commercial Manager and oversee cost control across design, construction and procurement elements.

The role requires chartered membership or progress toward it, and experience in NEC3/4 contracts with a track record of leading small teams. Hybrid working options are available and a competitive package is on offer.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent qualification is required.
• Working towards or Chartered membership of a recognised institution is required.
• Experience in utilities or construction sectors is essential.
• Experience with NEC3/4 contracts beneficial.
• Experience managing and developing a small team desirable.

Responsibilities

• Undertake quantity surveying duties in managing projects and work packages.
• Liaise with design, construction and supply chain teams to control costs.
• Collaborate with client to meet business requirements.
• Manage main contract, including notices and correspondence.
• Prepare and issue subcontract documentation.
• Assist in managing and developing subcontractors.
• Prepare cost and value reports, budgets and forecasts.
• Support junior commercial staff development.

Our client, an integrated design and build provider in the water sector, is currently seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their Commercial team. This permanent role offers the opportunity to take responsibility for the Commercial Management of Projects, reporting directly to the Commercial Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake quantity surveying duties in managing projects and work packages
• Liaise with design, construction, and supply chain teams to capture, analyse, and control costs
• Collaborate with the client to ensure business requirements are met
• Manage the main contract, ensuring contractual notices and correspondence as necessary
• Prepare and issue subcontract documentation
• Assist in the management and performance of subcontractors
• Manage the preparation and agreement of applications for payment
• Prepare project cost & value reports, budgets, and forecasts
• Assist in the management and development of junior commercial staff

Job Requirements

• Degree or equivalent qualification
• Working towards or have chartered membership of a recognised institution

• Experience managing and developing an individual or small team
