Job summary

MWH Treatment Limited is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the Commercial team on-site in East Manchester. You will report to the Commercial Manager and lead commercial management of projects, ensuring cost control and contractual compliance.

Essentially, you should have a degree, NEC3/4 experience and client-facing skills, with preference for utilities/civil engineering MEICA exposure. This is a hands-on, site-based role requiring strong leadership and CPD-driven development.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent required.
• Working towards or chartered membership of a recognised institution.
• Experience in utilities, civil engineering or MEICA sectors.
• NEC3/4 experience.
• Desirable: experience of managing and developing an individual or small team.

Responsibilities

• Manage commercial aspects of projects and work packages.
• Collaborate with design, construction and supply chain to control cost.
• Manage the main contract including notices and correspondence.
• Prepare and issue subcontract documentation and manage subcontractors.
• Prepare project cost reports, budgets and forecasts.
• Develop junior commercial staff.
• Maintain professional relationships with client and internal teams.
• Ensure confidentiality and present a professional image.

Job description

We are looking to strengthen our Commercial team with a Senior Quantity Surveyor based on-site in East Manchester.

You will report directly to the Commercial Manager and you will be expected to take responsibility for the Commercial Management of Project(s).

Key responsibilities will include:

• Quantity surveying duties in respect of managing projects and work packages
• Liaise with design, construction and supply chain teams to capture, analyse and control cost
• Collaborative work with the client to ensure business requirements are met
• Manage the main contract ensuring contractual notices and correspondence are identified and raised as necessary
• Preparation and issue of subcontract documentation
• Assist in the management and performance of subcontractors
• Manage the preparation and agreement of applications for payment
• The preparation of project cost & value reports, budgets and forecasts.
• Assist in the management and development of junior commercial staff
• Ensure your own continuous professional development by participating in external networking, conferences, associations and groups to stay current on industry changes and innovations
• Maintain a positive and solution oriented approach to work, providing open and honest feedback
• Undertake such other duties, training and/or hours of work as may be reasonably required and which are consistent with the general level of responsibility of this role
• In all internal and external contact, present a professional and positive image of the department and MWH Treatment as well as maintaining mutually constructive, positive and beneficial relationships
• Take all reasonable steps to ensure appropriate confidentiality
