Job summary

Randstad CPE is seeking a commercially minded Quantity Surveyor to join its Peterborough-based team. This full-time, permanent role provides critical commercial support to project management, focusing on cost control, reporting, and value recovery across regional projects.

You will act as a liaison between project representatives, subcontractors and stakeholders, identifying commercial opportunities while actively managing risk and ensuring contract compliance and timely payment processes.

Qualifications

• Education: Degree or HND in Quantity Surveying.
• Industry Experience: Construction sector experience.
• Contractual Knowledge: Understanding of NEC/ICE forms and UK construction law.
• Commercial Expertise: Experience in subcontractor procurement, measurements, accruals, and CVRs.
• Analytical Skills: Proficiency in earned value analysis and cost modeling.
• Core Competencies: Numerical literacy, MS Office, communication, time management.
• Work Style: Self-motivated, collaborative and adaptable.

Responsibilities

• Lead project-level cost and value reporting, cash flow forecasting, and earned value analysis.
• Maintain adherence to internal commercial processes and governance standards.
• Manage cash recovery, applications for payment, and project expenditure with site teams.
• Administer main contract terms, identify and mitigate risks.
• Oversee subcontractor procurement, negotiations, valuation cycles, accruals, and payment certification.
• Negotiate variations, claims and additional payments with clients and third parties.
• Collaborate with Project Managers and site teams to align commercial performance with delivery targets.
• Build relationships with external representatives, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors.
• Share best practices to develop operational and site teams.
