Job summary

Galliford Try Group in Lockerbie is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead commercial delivery on the Scottish Water Black Esk Reservoir project. You will own governance, profitability, and stakeholder satisfaction across multiple sites, mentoring others and driving value for the environment division.

Ideal candidates have MCIOB/MRICS or working towards, strong contract knowledge, and proven experience in civil engineering sectors, including highways, rail or water projects,

Qualifications

• Knowledge of standard contract forms and construction processes.
• Proven stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Experience in civil engineering environments (Highways, Rail, Water, Aviation).
• CSCS certification (as appropriate).

Responsibilities

• Lead subcontract documentation negotiation and pricing.
• Manage subcontract packages, interim assessments, and change control.
• Issue commercial notices and handle compensation events per contract.
• Prepare monthly client applications and detailed cost reports.
• Identify and manage risks to maximise margin.
• Drive cash, profit, and return on capital targets.
• Build strong client and stakeholder relationships.
• Support estimating and bid teams with contractual expertise.
• Develop commercial teams and ensure their wellbeing.
• Attend progress and risk meetings with clients and subcontractors.
• Apply governance and 'Doing the right thing' principles.
