Job summary

Galliford Try is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead commercial delivery on Scottish Water projects near Lockerbie. You will own commercial performance across multiple projects, overseeing governance, profitability and client satisfaction while mentoring teams.

Role demands strong knowledge of contracts, excellent stakeholder skills, and experience in civil environments. Agile working and wellbeing initiatives are highlighted by the employer.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of standard forms of contract and construction processes.
• Proven stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Experience in civil engineering environments (Highways, Rail, Water, Aviation).
• CSCS certification (as appropriate).

Responsibilities

• Leading the preparation and negotiation of subcontract documentation, terms, and pricing.
• Managing subcontract packages, interim assessments, and change control.
• Issuing commercial notices and handling compensation events in line with contract requirements.
• Producing and agreeing monthly client applications and detailed cost reports (CVRs).
• Identifying and managing risks and opportunities to maximise margin.
• Driving achievement of business targets for cash, profit, and return on capital.
• Building and maintaining strong client and stakeholder relationships for repeat business.
• Supporting estimating and bid teams with contractual expertise.
• Managing and developing commercial teams, ensuring their growth and wellbeing.
• Attending progress and risk meetings with clients and subcontractors.
