Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a Quantity Surveyor role.
  • Experience working on utility or infrastructure projects (water, gas, power, or telecoms preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of NEC and/or JCT contracts.

Overview

Senior Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing the commercial and financial aspects of utility infrastructure projects. The role ensures projects are delivered within budget, in line with contractual requirements and relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and manage project cost plans, estimates, and budgets
  • Carry out cost analysis, forecasting, and risk assessments throughout the project lifecycle
  • Measure, value, submit, and negotiate variations and final accounts
  • Support procurement activities, including contractor and supplier selection
  • Prepare and review tender documents, contracts, and bills of quantities
  • Monitor project progress and provide accurate financial reports to senior management
  • Manage client relationships and support contract negotiations
  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and contractual requirements
  • Complete post-project reviews and financial close-out
Requirements
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a Quantity Surveyor role
  • Experience working on utility or infrastructure projects (water, gas, power, or telecoms preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of NEC and/or JCT contracts
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Full UK driving licence
Desirable
  • Membership of a recognised professional body (e.g. RICS or ICES)
  • Experience using cost management or project management software
  • Previous experience working with public utility clients or contractors
