Job Description
Our client is one of the UK's leading privately owned infrastructure specialists and main contractors, delivering projects and frameworks across the UK. Working on and delivering civil engineering water projects across South London, this is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor from an infrastructure background, with previous experience either working on civils, water, or utilities projects.
As a key member of the team delivering your own portfolio, you will liaise with customer representatives, subcontractors, and other third parties on commercial issues including the agreement of variations, claims, and any additional payments.
Senior Quantity Surveyor roles and responsibilities:
- Ensure robust, accurate, and timely cost and value reporting at both project and business unit levels.
- Work with project delivery teams to forecast predicted spend and cash recovery, ensuring both are in line with targets.
- Carry out cost management including forecasting, updating the monthly CVR, and preparing cost and commercial plans.
- Help ensure that any main contracts entered into have appropriate terms and conditions, with commercial risks identified.
- Ensure that the supply chain is engaged appropriately with correct contract terms and conditions.
- Be responsible for subcontract letting, negotiation, financial accounting, and preparing applications for payment.
- Supervise and mentor other Quantity Surveyors and reports.
Senior Quantity Surveyor requirements:
- Previous Tier 1 contractor experience delivering civil engineering infrastructure projects.
- Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or a construction-related qualification.
- Minimum 5 years' experience working on civil engineering/infrastructure projects.
- Prior experience working on Southern Water, Affinity Water, or Thames Water projects is an advantage.
- Familiarity with NEC (3 or 4) forms of contract and knowledge of current Construction Law.
- Experience in procuring and managing subcontractors, including chairing meetings and negotiations.
- Ability to produce accurate monthly forecasts, challenge resources and costs, with good knowledge of monthly reporting and earned value analysis, maintaining deadlines in line with the monthly commercial calendar.
- Ability to support and mentor junior staff members.
- Excellent communication, numerical, and computer literacy skills; proficient in Microsoft Office.
