Job summary

Skipton Building Society is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to embed quality across the software delivery lifecycle. You will drive automation, testing strategies, and observability, collaborating with engineering, architecture, and product teams to deliver secure, scalable software.

You will mentor engineers, improve testability, and champion shift-left practices while working in a hybrid environment with three days in the Skipton office and two days remote.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Quality Engineer in a modern engineering environment.
• Strong hands-on experience in test automation, API testing, non-functional testing, and embedding quality within CI/CD/DevSecOps practices.
• Experience designing and maintaining test automation frameworks and integrating automated testing in delivery pipelines.
• Experience with cloud-based systems, distributed architectures, and modern software delivery models.
• Understanding of shift-left testing, observability, resilience, and performance testing.

Responsibilities

• Champion automation, testability, and continuous quality practices across the delivery lifecycle.
• Support modern Quality Engineering practices embedding testing within CI/CD pipelines.
• Improve engineering performance metrics such as lead time, automation coverage, and deployment frequency.
• Mentor Quality Engineers and wider engineering teams to promote shared quality ownership.
• Collaborate with engineering, architecture, and product to define quality strategies and standards.
