Job summary

Nicholas Associates Group, a large manufacturing business with global sites, is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer in Coalville, UK. You will lead the quality team, drive continuous improvement, and partner with production to reduce defects and improve customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities include pre-despatch inspections, root-cause analysis, supplier audits, and supporting new product introductions. Strong drawing-reading, measuring equipment, and ERP/MRP familiarity are valued.

Qualifications

• Experience using standard measuring equipment and reading/interpreting engineering drawings.
• Strong computer literacy, especially Microsoft Word and Excel; ERP/MRP familiarity is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Conduct pre-despatch inspections and approve finished products.
• Use statistical analysis and root-cause techniques to investigate quality issues and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure supplied and manufactured products meet quality standards.
• Work with internal teams and suppliers to resolve non-conformances and drive continuous improvement.
• Support production by minimising quality-related disruptions and reporting quality trends.
• Provide inspection support and carry out supplier audits when required.
• Support new product introduction and development projects from design review through to production.
• Assist in developing, maintaining, and auditing quality systems, procedures, and TQM reporting.
• Lead and develop the onsite Quality team, ensuring effective support for production targets.
• Identify training needs and build team capability and flexibility across the site.
• Travel to suppliers and other sites as required.

• Salary: Up to £48000 per annum + + bonus = £52,800

Industry: Mechanical Assembly - Engineering & Manufacturing

Hours: Monday to Thursday 6am to 2:30pm and Fridays 6am to 11:30am

Contracted hours: 37.5 per week

Holidays and Benefits: 33 days holiday, Xmas shut down, 7.5% pension, x4 salary death in service.

Overview:

Working for a large manufacturing business that have sites across the world we now require a Senior Quality Engineer to lead the quality team. This role will play a key part in improving customer satisfaction by ensuring products meet the highest quality standards. Partnering closely with production, they will lead continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen quality, reduce defects, and drive operational excellence across the factory.

The ideal candidate / Senior Quality Engineer may have some of the following, however, please note these are only desirable and not essential as all applications will be looked at individually:

• Previous experience working within a mechanical assembly environment - machine building or large machinery or similar. (machines include electrical and hydraulic components)
• Knowledge of production methods such as machining or fabrication would be advantageous.
• Experience using standard measuring equipment is essential and reading / interpreting engineering drawings.
• Strong computer literacy is essential, particularly in Microsoft Word and Excel. Familiarity with Access and experience using ERP/MRP systems would be an advantage.
