Job summary

Multi Trades Recruitment, on behalf of a leading main contractor, seeks an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join the Net Zero Teesside project in Redcar and Cleveland. This landmark infrastructure programme focuses on cleaner energy solutions and carbon reduction technology.

The role is project-based with a flexible pattern: 3 days on site and 2 days remote, reporting into the commercial team and delivering cost control, value engineering and procurement support across the works.

Qualifications

• BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent).
• Professional membership or working towards membership (RICS/CICES/CIOB).
• CSCS Card (Professional Qualified Person).
• Proven experience in quantity surveying and commercial management.
• Strong contract administration, cost control and procurement knowledge.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage costs and income within area of responsibility.
• Minimise costs while maintaining quality, performance and contractual requirements.
• Prepare activity schedules, resource schedules and analyse tender documentation.
• Review, assess and negotiate commercial information with third parties.
• Manage subcontractor activities, measurements and commercial responses.
• Prepare internal commercial reports, progress updates and financial reconciliations.
• Support delay and disruption assessments where required.
• Manage contractual changes, variations and compensation events.
• Prepare, submitting and negotiating claims when required.
• Build strong relationships with customers, stakeholders, supply chain partners and the wider project team.
• Support procurement strategies and undertaking constructability reviews.
• Ensuring governance compliance while identifying opportunities through lean and digital processes.
• Supporting the supervision, development and mentoring of junior commercial team members.

Quantity Surveyor Net Zero Teesside Project

Multi Trades Recruitment are working on behalf of a leading main contractor to recruit an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a major project team delivering the Net Zero Teesside project.

About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Quantity Surveyor to support the delivery of this nationally significant infrastructure project based in Redcar and Cleveland.

The successful candidate will play a key role within the commercial team, managing costs, maximising value for money, and ensuring projects are delivered to the required standards of quality, performance and compliance.

This is a project-based role operating under a flexible working arrangement, with 3 days on site and 2 days working remotely.

Key Responsibilities

As Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for:

• Managing all costs and income within your area of responsibility.

About You

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in commercial management within the construction or infrastructure sector.

You will have experience managing costs, contracts and stakeholder relationships, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a wider project team.

Experience managing or mentoring junior commercial staff, including Apprentice, Trainee, Graduate or Assistant Quantity Surveyors, would be highly desirable.

You will also be committed to maintaining your Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and progressing your professional qualifications where required.

Essential Requirements

• BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent).
• Membership of RICS, CICES or CIOB, or actively working towards professional membership.
• CSCS Card (Professional Qualified Person).
• Proven experience in quantity surveying and commercial management.
• Strong understanding of contract administration, cost control and procurement processes.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
