Job summary

Switch2 is seeking a Senior Software Engineer - Python / Infrastructure to build the Python services behind our smart meter platform. You’ll own the ingestion path for MQTT traffic, the APIs, and internal services ensuring correctness and observability.

You deploy what you write and you own it in production. The platform runs on Kubernetes with months of uptime; regular on-site collaboration is expected, and UK right to work is required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of production Python with ownership of services.
• Strong backend design with APIs, async work, and data modelling.
• Experience deploying to Kubernetes and debugging in production.
• Working knowledge of AWS (EC2, DynamoDB, IoT Core).

Responsibilities

• Own and operate Python services in production.
• Design, implement, test, and maintain backend APIs.
• Debug across device, broker, network, and code boundaries.
• Monitor, observe, and improve service health and reliability.
