Job summary

EV Energy is building a fully remote UK-based backend team to power its AI-driven EV energy platform. We’re seeking a senior backend engineer with deep Python expertise to design, implement, and scale services, APIs, and data models that run at grid scale.

You’ll own significant backend areas, collaborate with product and commercial teams, and apply AI-first thinking to ship robust systems quickly while balancing maintainability and performance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Python backend development with production systems.
• Experience building backend services with Python frameworks (Django/FastAPI/Flask).
• Proven track record applying AI-powered features in production.
• Strong API, data modeling, databases, and reliability fundamentals.
• Ability to influence technical direction and communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own backend services and APIs powering the product.
• Make architectural decisions balancing speed, maintainability, and scale.
• Take ownership of substantial technical areas and ship iteratively.
• Write AI-native backend code and prototype quickly for real usage.
• Collaborate with product, design, and commercial teams to translate problems into solutions.
