Job summary

Octoenergy is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Python) to join our product and engineering team. You will help build systems powering electric car leasing, working with Python, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, NoSQL on AWS, and a React/Next.js frontend.

You’ll design APIs, evolve backend architectures, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable solutions for customers and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Strong Python fundamentals and software engineering practices.
• Experience designing and building APIs, preferably with GraphQL.
• Comfort with relational (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases.
• Proven ability to build robust, scalable, maintainable systems.
• Collaborative experience across multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience using AI tooling to augment development.

Responsibilities

• Design and build robust APIs, integrating services to automate core processes.
• Architect and evolve backend systems and data models for performance and scale.
• Work with multiple data sources and design clear schemas.
• Contribute to frontend applications when needed and support UX.
• Maintain code quality and long-term maintainability.
• Share knowledge, mentor others, and raise team capabilities.
