Job summary

VirtueTech Recruitment Group is seeking a Senior Backend Python Developer for an Energy Tech firm focused on a smarter, zero-carbon electricity grid. You will design, implement, and scale backend services across UK and international markets.

You will work with Python using FastAPI or Django, PostgreSQL and distributed databases, Kafka or Pulsar, and AWS to build scalable, cloud-native systems with an emphasis on reliability and performance.

This is a hybrid role with 2–3 days in the London office.

Qualifications

• Senior Backend Python Engineer with energy tech background.
• Experience building scalable backend services.
• Familiar with cloud-native architectures and data processing.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain Python-based backend services.
• Develop cloud-native architectures and scalable APIs.
• Work with cross-functional teams and mentor juniors.
• Participate in on-call rotations and ownership of systems.
