Job summary

Grant Thornton UK LLP in Birmingham is seeking a Senior Manager in Public Interest (PI) Audit to lead a portfolio of high-profile engagements with autonomy and strong professional judgement.

The role focuses on audit quality, client relationship management, and growing the PI practice across Birmingham and the Midlands, including people leadership and business development opportunities. Flexible working arrangements are available.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified as a chartered accountant (ACA/ACCA/CA/ICAS/ICAEW or international equivalent).
• Experience planning, leading and delivering major external audit engagements, ideally at portfolio level.
• Experience of formal line management and contributing to business development within an audit practice.

Responsibilities

• Owns audit strategy design and delivery across PI engagements with ISA and regulatory compliance.
• Reviews work and applies senior professional judgement on complex matters.
• Leads senior relationships with Group FCs and Finance Directors.
• Represents the firm in presentations to Audit Committees and manages client expectations.
• Leads and develops a multi-grade team across engagements.
• Manages portfolio budget, profitability and growth strategy for PI and Midlands Audit.
