Job summary

Grant Thornton UK LLP is seeking a Senior Manager for Public Interest (PI) Audit in Birmingham. You will oversee a portfolio of high‑profile PI engagements with autonomy, ensuring quality and regulatory compliance while growing the PI practice in the Midlands.

The role requires strong leadership, client relationship management and a track record in delivering complex audits. You will lead and mentor a team, manage budgets and fees, and contribute to business development efforts, including

Qualifications

• Fully qualified as a chartered accountant (e.g. ACA/ACCA/CA/ICAS/ICAEW or international equivalent).
• Experience planning, leading and delivering major external audit engagements in a senior managerial capacity.
• Experience in formal line management and contributing to business development within an audit practice.

Responsibilities

• Audit quality and technical delivery across PI engagements with ISAs (UK) compliance.
• Client and stakeholder management, including senior relationships and presenting findings to Audit Committees.
• People leadership, mentoring Managers and staff across engagements and resource planning for Birmingham.
• Financial and commercial management, including budgeting, profitability and fee negotiations.
• Project management and delivery across multiple PI audit cycles, ensuring quality and consistency.
