Job summary

Grant Thornton UK LLP in Birmingham seeks an experienced Manager, Public Interest (PI) Audit to own end-to-end delivery of audit engagements for PI clients, ensuring audit quality and strong client relationships. The role also focuses on developing people and growing the PI practice within the Birmingham office and Midlands market.

You'll manage engagement teams, coach staff, oversee budgets, and lead fee discussions while maintaining independence and regulatory compliance in a high scrutiny

Qualifications

• Fully qualified as a chartered accountant (ACA/ACCA/CA/ICAS/ICAEW or international equivalent).
• Experience planning, leading and delivering major external audit engagements in a managerial capacity.
• Proven technical expertise in ISAs (UK), UK GAAP and IFRS, with PI-specific regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Owns the design and oversight of audit strategy for each PI engagement, including risk assessment and materiality.
• Leads on enhanced auditor reporting for PI engagements, including key audit matters and going concern disclosures.
• Manages client meetings and presents audit findings to Audit Committees where appropriate.
• Leads the engagement team day to day, coaching staff and contributing to the wider talent agenda in Birmingham.
• Owns the engagement budget and leads fee discussions with clients when scope changes arise.
• Plans and delivers the full audit cycle from planning to completion with coordinated specialist input.
