Job summary

Grant Thornton UK LLP in Birmingham is seeking a Senior Manager for Public Interest (PI) Audit. You will hold delegated authority across a portfolio of the firm’s largest PI engagements, driving audit quality, client relationships and people leadership, with a focus on growing the PI practice in the Midlands.

You’ll lead multi-engagement audits, set strategy, oversee delivery, and contribute to business development while maintaining high professional standards within the firm’s framework.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified as chartered accountant (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CA, ICAS, ICAEW or international equivalent).
• Experience planning, leading and delivering major external audit engagements in a senior managerial capacity, ideally at portfolio level.
• Experience of formal line management and contributing to business development activity within an audit practice.

Responsibilities

• Audit quality and technical delivery: design and oversee audit strategies across PI engagements, ensure ISAs and regulatory compliance.
• Client and stakeholder management: act as senior relationship holder and lead presentations to Audit Committees.
• People leadership: lead and develop a multi-grade team across engagements, with formal line management responsibilities.
• Financial and commercial management: own budget and profitability across the portfolio; lead fee negotiations.
• Project management and delivery: plan and oversee delivery across multiple PI audits; coordinate specialist input.
• Risk, ethics and professional standards: model firm risk policies and maintain professional competence.
